We have recently incorporated a SOL® Portable Diode Laser Wireless to our toolbox. Lasers have been around dentistry for several years, but there has been some confusion as to what their capabilities are. It is now well-established that they can be a positive adjunct to periodontal procedures, and are particularly valuable for the gum tissue around implants. They provide yet another way to desensitize teeth, and can be beneficial in crown and bridge procedures. Barbara is already certified for periodontal treatment with the laser, and, the rest of the staff is rapidly becoming trained in the safe and effective uses of this wonderful new tool. As you may know, I am never the first to adopt a new technology. I prefer to wait until the results are proven, and training of my staff is complete before I utilize any new technology on my patients. I will only use a new technology after it has an established track record and the results are proven superior, not merely expedient.
